It’s been 10 years since Moksha Yoga Halifax (1512 Dresden Row) opened its doors to yogis and yogi-wannabes alike, and owner Joanna Thurlow is giving gifts rather than receiving them. September ushers in some changes to the studio, bringing its students more diversity when it comes to the classes they’re taking.

“We’re creating that space for people who need a little more from their workout but don’t necessarily want to juggle memberships,” says Thurlow of the feedback that propelled her to do some renos to Moksha’s upstairs space. You can expect more faster-paced yoga (and more music), Moksha Fit classes—a workout targeted at yoga practitioners—yoga HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and a larger commitment to barre and pilates offerings.

“I feel it’s a natural part of business. It’s like in nature, it’s kind of like evolve or die,” says Thurlow. “I don’t want to just win a popularity contest, I want to be the best yoga studio.”

With 46 yoga classes a week and 11 fitness classes, Moksha remains very dedicated to what it's been doing all decade, but this refreshed version of its schedule launches September 4. The best news it that all classes are a cool $5 for the entire month, and if you’ve got a student ID you can bliss out with a free trial week.
