When Catherine Seheult started working with dogs as a way to pay the bills, she never intended it to be her career path. But after years washing, grooming and babysitting pups around Halifax, she’s launched Happy at Home Dog Grooming & Pet Care—a mobile service that’ll bring the salon to your pet, to help make it a more relaxing, maybe even enjoyable experience.

“I’ve seen a lot of dogs be really anxious about going to the salon, not that there’s anything wrong with the salon, but not a lot of dogs love going,” says Seheult, who’s certified through the Canadian Professional Pet Stylist Association. “Either the owner leaving freaks them out, or other dogs, or all the noise and busyness.” Pet owners without cars, and elderly, immobile dogs were also on her mind in planning Happy at Home earlier this year.

She says the familiar setting and having their owners nearby cheering them on can work wonders to put pups at ease, making it a better experience for everyone. Seheult pays visits to pups around Halifax, for everything from brushing to bathing to nail trims to full grooms, and she also offers services in pet sitting (that includes feline friends, too).
