The Coast's comparison of provincial data from today and yesterday reveals those details about the woman's age and what part of the Western zone she lives in. Why doesn't the province put such detail in its report, as it has the information and is already making it public? Good question. But while you're looking for better reporting of provincial information than the province provides, check out our map and table of the current COVID situation in the community health networks.
That map and table are showing negative one new case in each of the Halifax and Bedford/Sackville networks. "Two cases that were previously reported have been removed from the cumulative case count," explains the province. Yesterday the province had 5,871 infections during the entire pandemic, which should have increased to 5,872 with today's new case, but instead Nova Scotia also lost two infections and is down to 5,870 total cases today. Both of the disappearing cases were males, one between 40 and 59, the other in the 60-to-79 range. (We tried, but can't figure out which man lives in Halifax and which Bedford/Sackville.)
Testing is down to its lowest daily level since April 6, more than three months ago, with local labs processing just 1,832 tests yesterday. In better news of declines, hospitalizations dropped from yesterday's three people in hospital with two of them in intensive care, to two patients in hospital and only one of them in ICU.
The vaccination report is pretty standard for a recent Monday: 17,265 jabs, most of them people getting their second dose, the percentage of people with at least one dose barely moving upward to reach 74.02 percent. Wednesday morning and Phase 4 are going to arrive with the province reporting it's 74 percent vaccinated, rather than showing we've reached the 75 percent target.
But are we already there as Strang says? Some people are being vaccinated for the first time today; their numbers will be reported Wednesday afternoon but they will exist as of Wednesday morning. And there are the 8,000 military vaccinations Strang says exist but haven't been entered into the system. If the military numbers were added to the province's reported numbers, we'd be at 74.85 percent right now. If 1,450 civilians go from being unvaccinated to vaccinated on Tuesday, and we include the military 8,000 vaccinated, the province will actually start Wednesday at 75 percent with at least one dose, even if it's only publicly reporting 74 percent. We'll know Wednesday afternoon.

The province reports the number of active cases in each of Nova Scotia's 14 community health networks, but we do the math to be able to report the new and resolved case numbers. We also map the data to provide a different view of the case information.

The dark line tracks the rise and fall of new infections reported by the province, which hit a Nova Scotian pandemic record high of 227 cases in a single day on May 7. The green area is the province's caseload, which peaked May 10 at 1,655 active cases. Click or however over any point on the graph and the detail for that moment will pop up. Vaccination in the population
How many Nova Scotians already have one dose of vaccine? How many are fully vaccinated with two doses? And how close are we to the herd immunity goal of 75 percent of the province fully vaxxed? These questions are answered in our chart of the vaccination rate in Nova Scotia since the province started reporting these numbers in January 2021, breaking out people who've had a single dose separate from those who've had the full complement of two doses.
