Open daily from May 15 through
October 15, “The Farm” represents two
centuries of the rise and fall of agriculture in Cole Harbour, an area that is now
almost entirely subdivision. It is an original Cole Harbour farm encompassing heritage
buildings, personal and agricultural artifacts, and interpreting the market garden
farming that fed much of Halifax and
Dartmouth until the 1960s. In season,
it operates as a small working farm and keeps a selection of
livestock and flower and vegetable gardens. Traditional and heritage vegetables are grown and perennials and flowering bushes include many planted by early inhabitants of Cole Harbour. A full service tearoom serves a menu incorporating the Farm’s own produce and fresh eggs. Special events are held throughout the season.
