And yet more food news…The Halifax Food Policy Alliance is releasing a report this morning on the current state of food in Halifax. The “Food Counts” food assessment report will be released during a press conference at the Seaport Farmers’ Market, and aims to lay “the foundation for building a healthy, just and sustainable food system.”

Dartmouth's Nectar Restaurant & Wine Bar announced this morning that it'd be closing its doors as of June 21. They won't be closed for long though—North Brewing Company and Brooklyn Warehouse have bought the resto and will bring craft beer and award-winning eats to Ochterloney Street. Canada is guilty of cultural genocide, as outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s massive report after six years studying the country’s past residential school system. The report is scathing, but some feel it doesn’t go far enough. “It was their reconciliation, not mine,” survivor Debbie Paul tells the Herald.
