“A stunning surprise. I haven’t done anything for two years,” says Adam Baldwin of his win. Then he thinks about this obvious untruth. “I don’t know, I’ve played a couple times at The Marquee. I play piano at bars a lot for extra money. I’m out a lot I guess, at The Local drinking Schooners.” In reality his time has been spent largely on the road this year playing guitar in Matt Mays’ band—including a slate of Gaslight Anthem reunion shows—and working on new music due out next year. You can hear some of it at a pair of acoustic Carleton shows in December. “They named some sort of dish after me at Hopyard, and then this happened,” says Baldwin. “I’m having a big week. I want to say thank you to anyone who gives a shit.”
