Matt Andersen remembers when he first started gigging in Halifax, “playing for a handful of people at Stayner’s Wharf. Now, getting to play to like 2,000 people is pretty exciting—it’s good to get back,” he says. Of his partnership with sprawling band The Mellotones, which also snagged gold in Best Cover Band and Best Band To Dance To, he continues: “They blow me away. How much they play and how people will still come see them; their fantastic musicianship. I wanted to take a horn section on the road so it just made sense to bring them all along with me.”
