“If you haven’t visited a library lately, it’s not your library of yesterday,” Central Library manager Sharon Haley-Mancini. Nowhere is this more plainly true than at the iconic Central branch, where Haley-Mancini lists “concerts, social engagement speakers, a media studio, creative labs, social nooks, quiet spots and cafes” as part of the spot’s appeal. “You see the way life unfolds in this space. People meet with friends, make new friends, learn things,” she adds. “Not a lot of spaces are designed for socialization, to create. Here, we have that and it’s a space for everyone.”
