When the diners speak, The Wooden Monkey listens. That’s why manager Adam Savelle says the long-loved, uber-local restaurant takes the flourless cake in this category yet again. “We started 14 years ago we had one or two gluten-free options on the menu and we just had more and more customers ask so over the years we’ve expanded the menu to include more options,” he says, shouting out longtime supplier Big Life Bakery for assisting in the baked goods department. With no deep-fryer in sight, and mostly everything made from scratch, Savelle says it’s easy to make small adjustments to have a very gluten-free friendly kitchen. “We’re not 100 percent but we’re very close. And we’re very accommodating for all allergies. We may not be able to get you something directly from the menu, but there are not too many dietary restrictions we cannot accommodate.”
