The Shoebox Project

This morning, the Halifax organizers of The Shoebox Project, a national organization featured in last week's issue of The Coast, released a heartwarming video that shows the immense value of small gestures. The project, founded in 2012, collects items in shoeboxes (up to $50) during the holiday season that many women need and distributes them to shelters around HRM.

With Coast photographer and The Shoebox Project volunteer Meghan Tansey Whitton, the organization put together a video that shows what types of things you can include in the box, as well as what they might mean to someone receiving the items. Over the next few weeks, boxes and items can be dropped off at FRED and other locations until December 12. There's also the Shoebox Shaker on December 5 at The Company House where you can help fill boxes.

What's inside your shoebox?

One of our talented volunteers, Meghan Tansey Whitton, helped us put together this awesome video to help you put together your shoebox!
