The moniker The Patron Saint of Ruckus is both an indicator of what to expect from Tasha the Amazon and a challenge for the audience.

"I feel more of like a party conductor. So I'm kind of up and leading by example and then we all go nuts and there's a lot of moshing and people getting insane," says the Toronto rapper and producer Natasha Schumann, who performs as Tasha the Amazon. "There's something really cathartic about going ham at a show. So I'm the patron saint of that ruckus."

It's not just live shows where the energy is explosive: The video for "Watch It Burn" starts with the rapper hosing a pile of wood with a flamethrower. Her clip for "Picasso Leaning" won best hip hop video at the Much Music Video Awards in June, the first time a woman has taken home the award that's existed since 1990.

Everything for Tasha the Amazon happens in-house. She's also a visual artist and does the album artwork. Dantrax co-produces song and is the tour DJ and Coin Cooper is the director behind all the videos. "None of my videos have been large-budget, it's just literally where there's a will, there's a way," Schumann. "If we want a flamethrower and we want pyrotechnics, we're going to figure out a way to do it."
